I've noticed a slight change in the player base. People seem to care a lot more about their stats, the overall performance in game while still being beginners, 'noobs'. With only a few thousand battles you shouldn't judge yourself by stats. And neither should anybody else. That's something I dislike to see nowadays, people act like jerks and are rude if their team consist of 'noobs' and XVM says that there's 'only' 45% chance of winning. F the numbers. That attitude will drag the team down even more.
The main thing is that you should be advancing and getting better all the time as a World of Tanks player. Stats don't tell you that directly with small numbers of matches played. There's a huge number of tanks which will drag down the overall win rate if you aren't doing well while grinding through them. On the other hand, there are some tanks that will enable you to perform very well even you weren't the best player, like KV-1 with it's big damage output. 40 total fail games in AMX 40 will affect a lot in the stats with a thousand battles played overall but the more battles you play, the less those bad battles will make difference in the end, as long as you just keep improving your gameplay.

So there's nothing to worry about if you can't improve your win rate in low tiers during the first few thousand battles. Some tanks just are 'handicapped', meaning that there are naturally weaker tanks and they take their time to get adapted to. To balance the bad tanks, every tech tree has some very strong tanks that are worth the grind of some downright awful tanks. Every one of us were noobs when we started playing World of Tanks. There's no point sharing the hate down to the noobs of today. Let's accept a new positive way of looking our fellow tankers, they will learn the essence of this game earlier or later.
